My 3 year old is getting to the stage were her drawings are becoming more than just squiggles and lines. Ovals with eyes and noses resembling faces. Green zigzags for grass. Orange triangles shooting through the air like rockets. Each piece comes with a story. Sometimes one piece will have several stories that change from day to day. It is amazing how she can look at a drawing and see something totally different than what she saw the day before. And even more amazing that, as she is telling me the story behind the drawing, I can see it too. It is this reason that I find it so important to keep her artwork up on display. I want her to know that what she draws is just as important as anything I would draw or any piece that we would purchase.
Currently (like most families) we hang the kids artwork on the fridge. However, the fridge is becoming a little crowded these days and I would like something a little more permanent. I already have a pretty good idea for displaying my daughters artwork. I can not WAIT to show you ( I only hope it turns out as amazing in real life as it does in my mind) but that will have to wait. I have a few more thrift stores to browse and garage sales to seek to find that perfect piece. Not to mention we still have to paint the walls!! But until then I would like to share with you a few great ideas that I came across for displaying your own child art work. .
Check out this amazing tutorial for turning your kids art into a softie
Or you could transfer them onto fabric and make a duvet cover (is this not the coolest idea?)
How do you display your child's art? Leave me a comment or a link. I would love to know.

ReplyDeleteHi Jamie, My children are grown, but my granddaughters look for their artwork on a bulletin board in my kitchen. I post art and pictures. All our family goes there [after giving us hello hugs] to see what is posted. New follower.

I love children art work, and I have them hung all over my house too.
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie! Thanks for visiting me. These are all great ideas. It's been awhile since I had young children at home, but I have managed to hold onto some of their artwork. My advice is to take photos of their work, so that even if the artwork doesn't stand the test of time, you will still have it! Great collection of ideas!
ReplyDeleteHi there! New follower and thank you for your kind comment on my creepy dead fairy and for the follow. I have some pictures up in a poster frame and I change them around over time.
ReplyDeleteI made a similar design with clothespins attached to a wood plank. I have one in the boys room and one in the crafty room. They are so fun to make and I love the look! thanks for the great ideas...love the duvet cover!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this great roundup! I'm in the process of redoing my girls' play area and I wanted to display some of their artwork.
ReplyDeleteI made beads from my girls' artwork, but it only uses up a little scrap of it! But, I love having a part of them with me! http://www.sillypearl.com/2011/06/painted-necklace.html
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I just started following yours too! I love the idea of displaying your child's artwork. My daughter still has a little while until that. ;-) Look forward to linking up Monday!
ReplyDeleteThese are so neat, too bad they weren't out when my son was much younger. I especially like the hanger display over the bed. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I'm now a follower.
